Jack Rabbit Vineyard continues to reinforce its status as a
rising star of the Geelong wine region by taking out four medals at
the prestigious International Cool Climate Wine Show 2012, held
recently in Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsula.
The boutique vineyard was awarded silver medals for both its
2011 Pinot Grigio and newly released 2011 Chardonnay.
Bronze medals were also awarded for the 2011 Single Vineyard
Sparkling Blanc de Blanc and 2011 Pinot Noir.
Jack Rabbit winemaker, Nyall Condon said he was delighted with
the results, saying it was gratifying for everyone at the vineyard,
in only its second year of wine production under his
guard.
Now in its 12th year, the International Cool Climate Awards is
an annual wine show offering participants and sponsors the
opportunity of being involved in a world class event. The
event attracts winemakers, vineyard owners, sommeliers and cool
climate wine enthusiasts from around the world.
Mr Condon attributed a large part of the success to the fact
that Jack Rabbit wines were crafted from premium, hand-picked fruit
with attention to small batch handling and traditional
practices.
"Jack Rabbit wines are complex without being complicated with
the fruit, for every varietal and style, unashamedly the hero," Mr
Condon said.
"As winemaker, I'm also very lucky to be the recipient of great
grapes, thanks to the care and attention given to our vines by the
vineyard management team headed by Andrew Mahoney," he said.
The complete Jack Rabbit stable of wines includes the Single
Vineyard Blanc de Blanc, Moscato, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio,
Riesling, Chardonnay, Rosé, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet
Shiraz.
Jack Rabbit is open 7 days for lunch, guided tastings and Cellar
Door sales 10.30am - 5pm, with the Restaurant open for dinner
Friday and Saturday nights, and also available for weddings and
special occasions.
