With five of the top fifty rated public access courses in
Australia located within this region it's little wonder many of the
visitors who arrive are toting a set of golf clubs.
As well as some fantastic and historic tree-lined country
courses, there is a series of newer links-style developments that
are attracting attention among the golf community.
The Bellarine is a hub for golfing activity - four of those five
top-fifty courses are within this compact destination, the perfect
place to visit for a golf weekend. Some of the courses have
accommodation on site and all have well regarded clubhouse
facilities.
Barwon Heads Golf Club and the two courses at Thirteenth Beach
Golf Links are all rated inside the top fifty, and all are within
the seaside village of Barwon Heads. The clubhouse at Barwon
Heads is steeped in history, while the facilities at Thirteenth
Beach include bar, restaurant, conference and accommodation
facilities. The fourth top-fifty entry for Bellarine is at
Curlewis Golf Club, overlooking Port Phillip Bay.
The Sands at Torquay is also ranked inside the top fifty and
hosts the annual Surf Coast Knockout, a PGA Tour event.
Located within the Peppers Resort complex, the course is close to
the full range of hospitality and accommodation facilities.
