Berry picking is a fun and enjoyable activity for the whole family, and is particularly popular with children. Deans Marsh and the Pennyroyal Valley are also a great way to start your journey throughout the Otway Ranges and the Great Ocean Road.

If you are in town for a short time, take a ride along the beach path which winds its way along Point Londsdale foreshore to the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse. This is an easy eight kilometre round trip. The Blues Train

Victoria's historic coastal town of Queenscliff is home to the world's one and only Blues Train. It is a unique experience that combines four of Australia's best live acts and the beautiful scenery of the Bellarine Peninsula on the Drysdale Railway line while aboard a real moving vintage steam train. It is one of Australia's most spectacular entertainment experiences - it is a mini festival in one night and a progressive party you'll never forget. Nothing captures the spirit of the blues quite like a steam train. Listening to the train whistle and the clickety-clack on the tracks you can imagine the old blues masters jamming it up on Mississippi freight trains as they were 'ridin' the blinds' around America's deep south. The Blues Train leaves Queenscliff Railway Station after guests have enjoyed a delicious meal complemented by fine Australian and local wines. The steam train then makes its way along 16 kilometres of track, gently rocking from side to side, seemingly in beat with the music. At each of the stops, Suma Park and Drysdale, revellers swap carriages to see another of the acts, so by the end of the night patrons have seen all four acts performing on the train. Drinks are available from the mobile bar that miraculously appears on each platform (from the converted guard's van). You can sit back, relax and listen to the music with a drinking on one of the seated carriages or get up and boogie the blues away in one of the dance carriages. The Melbourne Skydive Centre has two exciting locations. The Great Ocean Road where you will see stunning coastal views of The Great Ocean Road, Bells Beach and Melbourne city. Also the Yarra Valley where you will see views of the 141 wineries, Dandenong Ranges and Port Phillip Bay! You begin the day with a briefing with your tandem sky dive instructor. This includes what to expect and what you will see on the plane flight to height, in freefall, under canopy and upon landing. You will walk out to the plane and there you will conduct your practice exits. Once all the ground preparation has been completed, it is time to get in the plane and get ready for take-off! Once you reach height, it will be time to prepare you for the jump. The door opens and as you leave the plane, you and your tandem master will accelerate through the air reaching terminal velocity of 220 kilometres per hour. Freefall feels like riding a cushion of air similar to riding a big wave. In freefall, your senses will be able to take in stunning views as far as the eye can see. Then finally it's time to pull your parachute open. From the loud rushing of air that you hear all around you, the parachute ride is very different as you sail around the sky, gliding. The landing is easy, just lift your legs. The parachute will glide and you will eventually put your feet down to land. National Wool Museum

The National Wool Museum is housed in a beautifully restored 1872 bluestone wool store close to the vibrant new Waterfront Geelong. The Museum is Australia's largest comprehensive museum of wool, showcasing the region's wool story - from the sheep's back to the clothes rack, and from the birth of the industry in the 1840's to its place in the world today. Central to the Museum experience is the 1910 built Axminster Jacquard carpet loom. Daily demonstrations by the Museum's skilled carpet weavers show how the loom works, and at the same time produce the Museum's own "Manor House Rug", available for purchase through the Museum Shop. The Museum has two permanent galleries telling the Australian story of wool. The first, "The Wool Harvest", looks at sheep farming and wool production. Exploring the pastoral aspect of wool in Australia, visitors can follow the path of the fleece through shearing, classing, wool pressing and dispatch. A recreated shearing shed and a film about shearing demonstrate what life in the shearing industry was like. Shearing demonstrations can be arranged for group bookings. Gallery Two, "From Fleece to Fabric", looks at the processing of wool into fabric and offers an insight into the people and processes involved in the textile industry. A sequential display of the machinery actually used in the process demonstrates the transformation of fleece to fabric. The Museum also has an exciting annual calendar of temporary exhibitions and events. On the Ground Floor, the Museum Shop stocks a wide range of woollen products and unique local crafts while Black Sheep Cafe & Restaurant offers great food, wines, coffee and cakes. Camilo Olive Grove is located near Teesdale between the grassy woodland of the Inverleigh Flora and Fauna Reserve and the Leigh River, among rolling hills in South West Victoria. Freedom is a 14.5 metre catamaran with upper and lower decks and viewing areas on the bow and stern. There are options to be outside or under cover. The one hour cruise is a great introduction to Geelong's award winning waterfront and history. During the cruise you will see yachts under sail and ship movements in the port. Dolphins and jellyfish are a highlight for everyone and the kids can have their photo taken in the captain's chair at the helm. A commentary and slide show enhances the cruise experience. Cruises depart from Steampacket Quay, near Cunningham Pier, Geelong at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Tickets can be purchased at the boat. Cruises operate on weekends from September to May and bookings are recommended on the day. A licensed bar and kiosk is open during the cruise to purchase drinks, chips and souvenirs. Access to the vessel is via a gangway and four steps and there is ample seating for up to 60 passengers. The cruise is suitable for all ages with room for prams and wheelie frames. The art-deco swimming enclosure at Eastern Beach has been a Geelong favourite for generations. Built in the 1930’s, the ‘Promenade’ is a wooden structure built in an arc, great for walking on a warm evening. The swimming area also has a large tower and diving boards. There is a separate children’s pool that is enclosed and paved. On shore, there is a fantastic adventure playground with plenty of spectator seats for the grown ups. There are large areas of lawn perfect for picnics or, depending on the season, a kick of the football or a game of cricket. There are toilet and dressing room facilities, and the beach is patrolled by lifesavers during summer. There is also a restaurant / café / kiosk on site. The whole area is set amongst grassy hills and enormous trees, and several of the buildings in the precinct are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.

The ex HMAS Canberra dive site is the first artificial reef specifically created for diving in Victoria. It lies in approximately 28 metres of water, with the top of the mast about 5 metres below the surface at low tide. The site provides opportunities for divers with varying levels of experience and certification, from open water level certificates to advanced wreck divers, to enjoy this site. When the ship as prepared for scuttling many of the original working features were retained so divers still get a sense of being on board a working ship. Dive charter operators based at Queenscliff Harbour can lead trips to dive the ex HMAS Canberra.

In the early 1920s the Australian Jam Company purchased 405 acres at Thirteenth Beach and established an asparagus farm. The original diesel pump which provided water for irrigation is still beside the 5th tee of The Beach Course. In 1999, a joint venture was established to create a premium golf and residential precinct on 520 acres. The Beach Course (designed by Tony Cashmore), the first 18 hole course, is set along the property's 2.1 kilometres of surf beach frontage. The course was opened for play on 1 December 2001. The course has already been ranked among Australia's Best 20 Golf Courses by two national golf magazines. The Creek Course (designed by Sir Nick Faldo and Tony Cashmore), spanning 6,401 metres has 18 holes and was opened for play on 1 January 2004 to wide acclaim.

Vines are cane-pruned by hand and the yields are kept low to ensure high quality fruit with complex and intense flavour. Approximately 70% of the fruit is sold to local wineries. The remainder is processed on-site. As a small producer, Wyuna Park can use innovative methods to produce unusual wines of finesse, balance and distinction. The riding school has been run by the Lamperd family for the past 40 years. Robin Lamperd began the school in Wallington as part of Koombahla Park Equestrian Centre in 1974 up until 2010. Robin's son, Murray Lamperd, took over the running of the riding school in 2005. Murray's vision for the riding school and equestrian team meant there was a growing need for updated facilities and a more specific training environment. Because of this, the riding school made the move to the new location at the end of Barry's Lane, just behind the old property, in November of 2010. This move has seen new life into the school horses with better grazing and an excellent surface for riding. It has also created a more inclusive and encouraging environment for the riders entering the competition world, and enabled Murray to focus more intensively on preparing his horses and students for the competition season.

The Barrgowan Vineyard and Winery is owned and operated by Dick and Dib Simonsen. Vines were planted in 1994 with the objective of producing a high quality Shiraz for private consumption. This specialisation in Shiraz continues and the high quality is reflected in an impressive list of awards since 1998. The production is very small from the 1/2 acre of vines, 50 cases in 2003 rising to an expected 200 cases in 2010 with no plans to expand further. This will ensure the continued high quality and attention to detail. The vineyard is unusual in that five different clones of Shiraz are planted, and Barrgowan Vineyard believe that each clone adds just a little extra complexity to the finished wine. Barrgowan Vineyard hand prune the vines, hand pick the fruit and basket press manually. Diligence, care and gentleness are applied at all stages of the wine making process; for example, most wine transfer is achieved by gravity, not pumped. By scientific measurement during the wine making process, we ensure the absolute minimum use of additives. The overall criterion is quality, not quantity! The wine matures for 12+ months in the best, ultra fine grained French oak barrels available, and do not blend, filter or fine. A voluntary guiding service interprets the Gardens for the public. Guides are trained to provide a diverse range of Gardens' experiences for individuals and groups. Friends manage and support the development and implementation of programs for primary, secondary, tertiary and community education. Friends manage the FGBG/Botanic Gardens Reference Library. Friends provide a range of publications - a newsletter, information sheets, brochures, flyers etc. Friends encourage and support cultural, artistic, environmental and horticultural events. The Friends Nursery, with a group of Growing Friends, select and propagate plant material for sale, maintain a stock management system, maintain a perennial border and co-operate with the Heritage Rose Group. FGBG manages the Friends Teahouse, providing light refreshments, run by employed staff and volunteers. Founded in 1985 the Friends are a volunteer support group working in partnership with the Geelong Botanic Gardens.

Introducing Drysdale Cheeses, the first commercial goat cheese manufacturer on the Bellarine Peninsula. Registered in December 2005, Drysdale Cheeses concentrates on a range of hand made cheeses, manufactured from the high quality milk from its herd of Saanen goats. The goats live on the Scotchmans Road property in Bellarine, where they are milked daily. Drysdale Cheeses are a registered dairy herd and all of the animals are pure bred. Their diet comprises of pasture, tree cuttings, hay and a goat "muesli", a home recipe. They also love their daily offerings of fruit and vegetable scraps from the fruit shop in Drysdale -especially watermelon!! Extra essential minerals and vitamins are administered via seaweed meal and salt licks. Although Drysdale Cheeses is not certified organic, they follow permaculture farming principles and adopt ethical animal treatment. They do not milk animals that are heavily pregnant and newborn kids will stay with their mums for those first few days of all-important colostrum (first milk). Each doe only kids once every two years, allowing for their optimal health. The milk is then transported back to the cheese making room at Drysdale. The basic method for making cheese requires pasteurisation in this country, although a small group of speciality cheesemakers are working to allow raw milk cheese to be made legal in Australia soon. After pasteurisation, cheesemaking cultures are added to the milk for flavour ripening and then an enzyme (rennet) is added to coagulate the milk, thus producing curds and whey. These cheese making procedures use only vegetarian rennet. Different varieties of cheese will then require different temperatures and different treatments. The cheeses are made in small batches and require careful aging and draining, and so may be unavailable from time to time. Drysdale Cheeses are only available locally, from selected restaurants and providers.

The Geelong Heritage Centre is Victoria's largest regional archive and history resource facility. The Centre provides public access to collection records for family history research, legal administrative recall, establishing citizen's rights and entitlements, cultural enjoyment and historical display purposes. The archive collection embraces the histories of locations in the City of Greater Geelong , Surf Coast and Golden Plains Shires, dating from 1838. The Centre has an extensive local and family history collection that includes council records, newspapers, reference works, maps and plans, photographs and oral histories. The Centre provides assistance and guidance to members of the general public in family, local history and school projects. The Centre has exhibitions of collection material for free public viewing all year round , and most of these displays are developed to enhance understanding of significant historic events, and/or celebrate anniversaries of major 'milestones' in Geelong and local district history. The Centre is located in the Cultural Precinct of Geelong and has a management committee with representatives from the municipalities of City of Greater Geelong, Surf Coast and Golden Plains, the Geelong Historical Society and the National Council of Women. The Centre collection consists of approximately 2 km of shelved archived material including over 40,000 images and more than 30km of microfilm. The Centre has a permanent staff of three, supported by a team of dedicated volunteers who help in a variety of ways. In 2011, the Centre received over 7000 visitor and client inquiries. The local community, as well as visitors from Melbourne and regional Victoria, interstate and international tourists have discovered amazing information about their ancestors who have lived, worked or travelled through the Geelong and surrounding region in the past. Geelong Racing Club is home to many popular races that attract keen punters all over Australia. Visit the website today for club information and race details. Geelong Racing Club staged its inaugural race meeting on 1st May 1841, at Corio. There were three races, the first was a two horse event won by Juliet ridden by owner T. Wright. On 4th February 1843, another meeting was conducted about three miles West of Geelong near the then newly erected Fyansford Inn. In an attempt to conduct annual meetings the Geelong Racing Committee conducted a trial meeting on land known as "Airey's Flat" on the 5th October situated three miles from Geelong, beside the Moorabool River (nearly opposite where the Australian Portland Cement Works is today). The first official annual Geelong race meeting was conducted on the 29th February and 1st March 1844 after restructuring the course that was one and a half miles and 300 yards. Apart from Fyansford, many other meetings were held in the early days. These include North Shore, Belmont, Lara, Birregurra, Inverleigh, Leigh Road, Winchelsea, Moriac, Meredith, Queenscliff, Portarlington, Drysdale and Torquay. The Portarlington course can still be seen today and the Belmont meetings were held on the present site of the rifle range in Breakwater Road.

Moorabool Valley Chocolate make truffles, pralines, fruit and nut clusters, chocolate bars and novelty items. They respond to consumers' needs and will do the best to create the chocolate you want. Most of the chocolates have no preservatives, so it is recommended that you store them in a cool place and consume them as soon as possible. The owner and chocolatier, Lynne Meek, was awarded second prize, Hand-Made Chocolates, Royal Melbourne Show 2006.

Nalbra Estate Wines is a small boutique vineyard owned by Teresa and Leigh Robinson. The vineyard is perched on Mount Bellarine and has a magnificent view of Port Phillip Bay. It has just over two hectares of vines. The first vines of Shiraz and Pinot Gris were planted in 2001, followed by Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier in 2003. They stress treat the vines and bunch count for quality not quantity. Nalbra Estate Wines received two gold medals at the 2010 Geelong Wines Show and two gold and two silver medals in the 2012 James Holliday Wine Companion plus a 5 star rating. The wine is made with two outstanding wine makers of the region. Ray Nadeson and Maree Collis. Cellar Door is done from the Japanese garden or from our 'love seat' which overlooks the vineyard and the valley below. The wine is all Estate grown and hand picked, no machinery is used. The varieties of wines available are: - Viognier - Sauvignon Blanc Viognier - Shiraz - Shiraz Viognier - Pinot Gris Cellar Door is by appointment only. The winery is very flexible with group and bus.

The museum has a great variety of displays that tell the history of the gaol and visitors get hands on experience of the harsh conditions prisoners and staff endured at the facility. Visitors can experience solitary confinement cells, get a taste of prison life, meet some infamous figures who have spent time at the gaol and see the original hallows.
