With spectacular views across Corio and Port Phillip bays,
Terindah Estate's new café, cellar door and events space is a great
addition to the Bellarine Peninsula's food and wine scene.
Located between Drysdale and Portarlington, the Shed @ Terindah
Café is perfect in all weather, with floor-to-ceiling glass doors,
a cosy fireplace, a private beach on the property's edge and rows
of grapevines to wander through.
Previously only open to the public by appointment, Terindah
Estate is now open daily, with the new cellar door offering
tastings of the latest vintages and the café serving brunch and
lunch.
A new event and conference venue, featuring a dining hall that
can cater for 200, a cellar door bar area that holds 50 and
separate bottling and barrel rooms, have also just opened on the
picturesque site.
Terindah Estate produces pinot noir, pinot gris, chardonnay,
rose, zinfandel and shiraz grapes, with nearby Scotchmans Hill
creating a range of wines under their label. The property also
boasts more than 100 fig trees, which often provide luscious fruit
for the café menu.
Unlike many vineyards, Terindah Estate lets visitors wander
through sections of the grapevines and, if it's not too busy, you
might even be able to hop aboard their buggy for a trip down to the
private beach.
The striking modern buildings, designed by Max May Architects in
Collingwood, feature glass, galvanised steel and recycled timber,
including wood from Station Pier in Port Melbourne and old
tramblocks in the paved courtyard. The café is housed in the
property's atmospheric old hayshed.
The July school holidays is a great time to visit Terindah
Estate, with children eating free when accompanied by a paying
adult. A jumping castle, performers and other activities will also
keep kids entertained.
