Pump up your tires, hoist the mainsails or settle in to sample some frothy delights, there's a few fun festivals on the horizon. (Apologies to all the sailors upset at the title, we're aware they're ships, but we just love alliteration).
We're a popular spot for cyclists, with lycra clad legends hitting the road every weekend - or cycling along the foreshore for a more relaxed journey. But once a year we turn into a genuine bike mecca; as one of Australia's most successful cyclists brings his titular tour to the region - including the ever popular Swisse People's Ride. The 2019 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race event will deliver premier cycling action and entertainment for sports fans, cycling enthusiasts, spectators, families and the local community.
All aboard for the largest keelboat regatta in the Southern Hemisphere. The waterfront and the sea itself will transform into a festival atmosphere celebrating all things sailing. Live music, kids entertainers, spectacular waterski and flyboard shows, family-friendly activities, rides, a ‘discover sailing’ program, food trucks, market stalls, plus the iconic Australia Day fireworks display.
Finished cycling and disembarked from your sailboat? Time for a few frothies. The annual celebration of our favourite bubbly beverage comes to the Geelong Racecourse on Feb 16th. Picture hundreds of amazing beers and ciders that you can sample or just kick back and relax with a can. Smoking slow-cooked meats and Geelong’s best burgers, a rocking piano-bar, beer cocktails, coffee martinis, slushies and wine just to mix it up. Cheers!
