If 2020 was a TV program it’d be Game of Thrones. One disaster after another, losing our favourite characters and just generally punching us in the guts. The 8 seasons also kept us at home on our couches for a significant amount of time.
CoGG has also set up a dedicated page listing lots of virtual events, check them out here.
COVID-19 doesn’t have to end with Bran on the Iron Throne, though. There are some things we can all do to band together and support each other. We might come out looking like Wildlings unless we have a hairdresser in the immediate family, but at least our favourite businesses and experiences will be ready for us if we help them get through this tough time. Here’s a guide to what you can still do without ‘visiting’ Geelong and The Bellarine.
Some of the cutest reasons to visit the region can still be cooed over, thanks to the Zoos Victoria Animal House webcams.
Our great mates at Piano Bar are streaming live performances. Jump on their Facebook, pour yourself a drink and get ready to belt out your favourites. (And get active in the comments for requests).
Barwon Heads Yoga are making sure you stay strong (and flexy) during these homebound times with online yoga classes. Namaste.
The gang at Geelong Arts Centre are live streaming some of their performances, and give our friends at Queenscliff Gallery and Workshop a call to virtually browse their exhibitions or acquire a piece online.
The upside of COVID-19 has been the genius improvisation of some of our favourite places to eat, that are now offering take-away and delivery. Be gone soggy chips, hello delicious Alma at Home and Café GO! On The GO! Check out our Eating Well In Isolation blog for other excellent options.
We'll Drink to That
With some innovative food brought to your home dining room table, it's only fair that you have a drop to match. Our mates at Barwon Heads Winestore are still open (hello essential service!), Clyde Park is operating a take-away cellar door/pizza shop and loads of the wineries around our region will deliver.
See You Later
Whilst it’s most important for everyone to bunker down and limit our contact with others as much as we can to get this virus under control, we can’t wait to get out amongst it again. In the meantime, it’s enormously helpful for the awesome services and experiences to see some support now.
Think about giving a gift voucher as a present for Mother’s Day or a birthday. Or that cool thing you’ve been wanting to do for ages? Now’s the time to lock in the fun and sort out the date later. A decadent weekend away, a family trip to the coast, a group on The Blues Train, a Bellarine Wine tour with girlfriends, some Barwon Heads retail therapy, a Sea All Dolphin Swim, a fancy meal, a round of golf or bucket of balls at The Range @ Curlewis, a trip on the Ferry to Sorrento or Melbourne – pay now, play later. They need it now and you’ll need it then.
Take care, stay home (for now) and we’ll see you again in a little while.
