There’s no shortage of family-friendly attractions in Victoria’s second-largest city. In fact, there is something to suit every family on any budget. From tots to teens, these activities are sure to impress. How many have you ticked off?
Waterfront Train Tours and Bungy Trampoline
Combine a relaxing stroll along our famous Bollard trail with a tour of our waterfront onboard a delightful miniature train. Waterfront Geelong Train Tours host return trips from the Carousel to Eastern Beach pools. Departures occur every half an hour.
Giant Ferris Wheel
The Giant Sky Wheel is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Located on Eastern Beach, this nostalgic attraction will have you taking in spectacular views of the waterfront and CBD. By night, the wheel is equally impressive, as it is illuminated by over 300,000 dazzling LED lights. Tickets start from $9.
It’s magical, it’s whimsical, it’s absolutely delightful. The Carousel is a recently restored work of art that is fully operational and fun for the whole family. Constructed in 1892, each of the 36 horses required 300 hours of work before they could be restored to their former glory. Enjoy views of the dazzling waterfront while being serenaded by an original Band Organ. Fun fact: The Carousel is one of only 200 in the world that is still operational today.
Stand up Paddleboarding
On a sunny day, why not round up the family and take part in a stand-up paddleboard lesson on the Geelong Waterfront? WSUP runs a number of beginners classes that’ll have you safely on your feet in no time. Prices start from $55 for 1.5 hours.
Eastern Beach Reserve
There’s picnic facilities, playgrounds, a shark-proof sea bath and free parking. The Eastern Beach Reserve is a hotspot for locals with kids in tow. Pack your bathers, some snacks and your sunscreen. Parents: there are a number of cafes nearby for you to get your caffeine fix.
