Forget what you think you know about bachelorette parties. Not every hen’s night needs a scantily-clad bloke dancing for tips. The opposite is also true; not every bride-to-be dreams of a wholesome tea party either. The best kind of bridal bash lies somewhere in between those two worlds. And as maid of honour, it is your job to strike the perfect balance when planning the main event.
If you’re looking to take the celebration into the regions, allow us to make a few suggestions to add to the itinerary.
A luxurious sleepover at Lon Retreat
Not much of a partier? Make it a hen’s weekend by booking a luxury suite or two at the Lon Retreat and Spa for a decadent getaway with the gals. This boutique property was recently featured in Conde Nast Traveler’s 2019 Hot List and makes for the ultimate pamper destination. Treat yourself to a massage, facial or a detox scrub in the morning, lax out on the beach in the afternoon with a picnic or hire some bikes and get out on the Bellarine Rail Trail. There’s also a heated pool and a hot tub on-site for you and the gals to enjoy.
Hit the town
Ask any local and they’ll tell you that you can’t beat a night out at Piano Bar. Request the bride-to-be’s favourite song and get ready to dance the night away with a drink or two in hand. The vibe is warm, welcoming and oh-so-rowdy. This is a good times venue and not for quiet chats and contemplation. Depending on the night, you could be greeted with a drag show, jazz or blues. Piano Bar is located on Malop Street.
Hire a Mobile Prosecco Bar
You’ll be crowned ‘Hostess with the Mostess’ if your guests rock up to a bachelorette party with a Mobile Prosseco Bar serving up Bellinis. All you need is a power supply and a cute outdoor setting. Miss Fizz is our local prosecco queen. Their 8ft trailer is oh-so Instagram worthy and their beverage menu is entirely devoted to the art of the Spritz.
Channel your inner Patrick Swayze / Demi Moore and book the I Do Crew in for a ceramics class with Hazy Tales’ Studio. Based in Drysdale, a pottery class is a fun way to break the ice. Bring your own bubbles or wine and get ready to get your hands dirty by making ceramic wedding favours and seating place names. Fun and belly laughs guaranteed.
