Ah, Barwon Heads, the jewel in the crown of the Bellarine Peninsula (in my completely unbiased opinion).
It’s home to picture perfect, postcard backdrops. Think fishing piers stretching out into the beautiful Barwon river, stunning clifftop views over Thirteenth Beach, charming al fresco cafés and droves of happy families frolicking at the beach. I mean, it’s almost cliché.
It’s no secret that Barwon Heads is an incredibly pretty place to explore. But to me, one of the best things about this little place I call home, is the shopping.
Hands down, Hitchcock Avenue has some of the best retailers in the Geelong and The Bellarine region.
There are so many hot spots for gorgeous clothes and gifts along this bustling main street – so I’ll just name a few of my personal favourites.
If I ever need a new outfit, I’ll always find something at Red Dog 3, Moss Grotto or Strumpet. The carefully curated clothing options at these stores hit the mark every time. Move Athletica is also a great spot for active-wear – aka my work uniform for the past three months.
Looking for a gift, or something lovely to take home? My go-to is Natural Edge Living. Such an irresistible range of clothing, home-wares, accessories, toys and art.
Plus, there’s the famous Kiitos Living by Design. Think Marimekko, Aesop, and a simply beautiful selection of aesthetically pleasing local and international products for your home and kitchen.
Looking for a wetsuit, surf brand tees and clothes, a towel or new hat? Tonik is your spot for all things surf, sun and sand.
A stroll down Hitchcock Avenue makes it very easy to support small businesses and buy from independently-owned shops, which is now more important than ever.
After living here for a couple of years with my two young children, there are plenty of other reasons why I love this part of the world, and I’ll be sharing more local secrets in my next posts… stay tuned!
