Retired and ready to try something new
As a recent retiree, I’ve decided to try my hand at all the activities I never had time for.
Being a Geelong local, I thought I’d start by trying some new things close to home, and my Melbourne mates love coming down to try them out with me.
Here are some of the activities I’ve tried out so far…
THE ROCK ADVENTURE CENTRE
Wowee. The first new activity on my list—and let me tell you, rock climbing is not as easy as it looks. I’d consider myself a bit of a daredevil, but this was some seriously scary stuff. However, if you’re a fearless show-off, then this is the adventure for you. With over 100 climbs on 25 walls, there’s a huge variety from beginners to experts. Don’t worry if you get nervous, they assured me it was totally normal…

CURLEWIS GOLF CLUB & ACCOMMODATION
I’m not going to lie, after pushing my nerves and fitness to the limit, I was excited to opt for a more serene activity. The Curlewis Golf Club is nothing short of world-class with its perfectly manicured fairways and greens and brand-new elegant accommodation. I didn’t want to keep it all to myself, so I invited one of my new friends, Bev. She hadn’t played golf before so it was only fair that I showed her the ropes.

I’m also learning how to Paddle Board which is always a bit of fun. I’m only trying on the flat days at the moment when I scout the best spots for the weather, maybe one of these days I’ll catch a wave! Watch out!
