School's Out For Winter

School's Out For Winter

As the mercury drops and the clouds close in, it's time to rug up and enjoy the changing of the seasons... or just stay inside where it's warm.

The Great Outdoors

Every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday throughout the holidays, head down to Basil's Farm and say hello to all the locals, including llamas, sheep and ducks. It’s great interactive fun and totally free.

Collect the clubs (or simply hire some) and head to Lonsdale Golf Club these holidays for Junior Golf sessions, supervised by members every Saturday afternoon from 3pm. Great for all levels, whether the next Carrie Webb or a budding Aaron Baddeley.

Portarlington Golf Club is also welcoming the next generation of golfers with an Open Junior Golf Challenge on the 16th July. Endorsed by Golf Victoria and the SWGA Order of Merit, competition is open to 5-15 year olds (handicap not required).

Meerkat Manner is offering discounted late night trading hours during the school holidays (open until 7pm Wednesday, Thursday & Friday). So get the little guys down for some awesome adventures and playtime (while parents enjoy a breather in the cafe).

Geelong Discovery Park invites families to head down throughout the school holidays, as kids stay FREE and can enjoy craft activities and face painting.

Werribee Open Range Zoo will once again throw open its doors after dark this school holiday period for visitors to experience the thrill of Wild Nights.

Geelong Botanic Gardens is calling all bug fans to join the Bug Hotel program. Participants will get their hands dirty making their own Bug Hotel, join a big Bug Hunt (to find some tenants) and all efforts will be combined into a giant bug hotel for the Gardens. Programs start at 10am on the 4th, 6th, 11th and 14th of July.

The Farmers Place has heaps of activities on this holiday period, from learning to make scones, sauerkraut or homemade porridge, to crafting your own bonsai or planting your own veggie patch. There's also guided bushwalks, story telling and farming fun. Pick a day (or three) and book now.

Narana will be running their 'Experience Narana' tours twice daily throughout the holidays, where you can meet some local wildlife, decorate and throw boomerangs and learn about this incredible culture from the experts.

The Marine and Freshwater Discovery Centre will be running a holiday program from the 3rd to the 9th of July, perfect for the whole family to get a closer look at the local marine ecosystem and say hey to some underwater friends.
