All great holidays are an adventure, and these school holidays are no exception! Don’t be deterred by the cold weather, come join us on an adventure-filled journey of mighty fine activities and experiences for you and the kids.


Let’s get this alphabetical adventure started, and where better than with an awesome letter A.


A is for Abracadabra - Dazzling Dan the marvelous magician is ready to entertain and baffle you. He has something very special planned and all on-board the Bellarine Railway. Abracadabra, alakazam, let the magic begin! 

B is for Book worm - All book worms know and love “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. This school holidays Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre invite you to some very hungry caterpillar escapades; scavenger hunt, caterpillar prize packs, story time, craft galore and a meet and greet with the very hungry caterpillar.

C is for Craft – and to add a little flair and inspiration to your craft why not fabricate it on a ferry.  Searoad ferries have some fun and crafty urban up-cycling for you to do this school holidays.  Using recyclable items, make anything from a medieval shield, to a pretty seahorse, to a rocket and more, all in the comfortable and warm ferry vessel. 

D is for Dolphin Discovery - a fun and interactive workshop learning all about Port Phillips unique dolphins and other amazing marine life, including seals and whales! Play games, see dolphin skulls and meet Bella Burrunan the dolphin on Searoad Ferries.  You never know, you may see a real dolphin frolicking in the waves of the ferry too!    

E is for Eating – Mt Duneed Estate are offering delicious $5 kid weekday meals. Kids can choose from their renowned kids platter, ham & cheese toastie or fish & chips. Plus, if you bring a footy along, they can then run off all that excess holiday energy in the amazing space that is Mt Duneed Estate.  

F is for Farm Animals – the kids will love meeting, greeting, patting and feeding the animals of Basils Farm; chickens, ducks, llamas and baby doll sheep. After all that hard farm work, kids can enjoy a kids platter box or ham & cheese croissant for lunch (all included in the price).  

G is for Gallop – Saddle on Riding school have dates available during the school holidays for not only private riding lessons but also horse-filled days at their active day camps. Giddy up!   

H is for High Tea – Sail the bay while treating everyone to a high tea? How very grand! Searoad Ferries are serving up a very royal high tea specifically designed for the kids which includes a tiered platter of sweet and savoury treats, soft drink, juice or hot chocolate. Big kids receive Searoad’s spectacular adult-sized high tea that includes a glass of sparkling wine if that takes your fancy. Ah, yes please!

I is for Imagination – let your child’s imagination run wild in a world designed just for them. This winter holidays The Village Green have created the perfect child-size pretend play town. With pint-sized pretend play stations and some helpful grownups to guide them, your child can be whoever they imagine themselves to be; doctor, firefighter, gardener, barista.  The world is theirs!   

J and K is for Journey for the Kids – take a journey designed for the kids on the Portarlington Bayside Miniature Railway. Special services have been added this winter school holidays to ensure everyone gets to ride this miniature train delight.

L is for Locomotive – the ultimate in locomotives; the mighty steam engine. Hop on board one of Bellarine Railway’s heritage trains and transport yourself into a bygone era where these powerful locomotives ruled the rails.

N is for Nonstop excitement – the excitement doesn’t stop until you escape from the Escape Room Geelong. The ultimate in adventure games sees players locked in a room, using only the elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles and escape within 60 minutes. Can you escape the excitement? 

 M is for Marine Discovery – Foster a love for all things aquatic at Queenscliff’s Marine and Freshwater Discovery Centre. A colossal school holiday program has been developed for your kids that will have them in awe of their remarkable coastal surrounds. Activities include; Fishy Tales story time, ocean art, a marine biology cruise and beach discovery. 

O is for Once upon a time – Once upon a time there was a great fiery dragon and sweet but fierce fairy, living right here in Geelong! Geelong Botanic Gardens invites you and your Princes and Princesses to come along and be mystified. What’s in store? A interactive dragon story, construction of your very own fairy garden and discovery of magical places within the realms of the gardens. 

P and Q is for Planting Quietly – How’s the serenity?  Embrace the natural environment and nurture its future growth at the Bellarine Alive events. Two events are scheduled this winter school holidays; Community Planting Day and National Tree Planting Day. Under the guidance of the Bellarine Bayside conservation team you can give back to mother earth by planting trees. All you need to bring is your green thumb.  

R is for Robots – Computing fun scheduled aboard Searoad Ferries. The kids will love playing with the OZOBOTS; the cutest darn robots you will ever meet! Designed to perform tricks by only using pens and paper, no devices required except your very powerful mind.

S is for Seal Swimming – duck and dive with the playful pups of the sea; the Australian Fur Seal. Sea All Dolphin Swims are conducting their very lively and spirited seal swims this winter holidays. With a wetsuit and movement to keep you warm, you will relish in your one-on-one contact with these childlike creatures.   

T is for Thor – Who you may very well meet at Big Beacon Resort’s Superhero Fest. Superboys and Supergirls of all ages are guaranteed to be super-happy with the super lineup of events. With planned activities twice a day, every day, Supermums will have plenty of time to put their feet up. 

U is for Up, up and away – 5, 4, 3, 2, 1… Blast off to the Potato Shed where Commander Carl Cosmic has been given orders to send two astronauts, Captain James Link and Flight Engineer Luna Tik out on their first mission aboard the ‘Spud Nik’. The Moon, Daisy the Cow and a whole stack of Planets join the adventure. Be sure to book your tickets to the colourful and creative show “321 Blast Off”.

V is for Voyage – Take a voyage with Sea All Dolphin Swims during the Queenscliff Low Light Festival. Various dates and times are scheduled for a magnificent sightseeing tour of the bay.    

W is for Wild Nights – have a wild and raucous night at Werribee Zoo’s Wild Nights. Returning for eight nights only, bring your torch and your sense of adventure and find out what really happens after dark at the Zoo.   

X is for Xmas in July – Have a jolly July on the high seas. Searoad Ferries are celebrating Xmas in July with a selection of classic High Tea treats with a Christmas theme. Cruise the Bay, fill the belly and get into the spirit of Christmas (well in advance)! 

Y and Z is for You’re going to love the Zoo – Days at Werribee Zoo are set to excite and electrify you with spectacular Cirque Africa performances; exciting acrobatic feats underneath the Big Top. There are plenty of times to choose from with four amazing performances taking place every day throughout the winter school holidays.

Winter school holidays are as easy as 1, 2, 3… A, B, C! With so many activities and adventures on offer, the kids may get a bit tired, but they definitely won't be bored!
