Where To Eat In Queenscliff: From Grand To Grounded

In town for a fancy weekend away with your one true love? Or a trip to the beach with the kids? No matter what your reason for visiting Queenscliff or who you’re with, we've got you covered with somewhere to eat. Of course if these ideas don't suit your mood, then you know that Queenscliff will always guarantee you a good serve of fish and chips and a delicious ice-cream.

Q. Kids are starving and need a quick feed, preferably at the park where they don’t need to sit still. What can I feed them?

A. Australia’s best pies are made by Rolling Pin Pies and Cakes in Hesse Street, it’s perfect to grab a bunch of stuff take away and eat them at a picnic bench in the park opposite the beach.

Q. Looking to take the extended family somewhere we can ALL enjoy our dinner, rather than spending time pleading with kids to eat theirs. Where should we go?

A. Really good traditional meals at the Rip View Bistro – with, as the name suggests, plenty to look at outside the window. Plus, the kids meals come with juice and a frog-in-the-pond. Tick!

Q. We’re having a kid-free weekend in Queenscliff and looking for somewhere to treat ourselves to a nice meal with just the two of us – preferably with tablecloths.

A. Athelstane is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.The menu is full with a good selection and a fabulous wine list. Perfect for that special meal! (Although they do have a nice little kids menu too!)

Q. It’s our wedding anniversary and I’d like to treat my parter to a very special and memorable dinner. What do you recommend?

A. Eating in the Grand Dining Room at the Vue Grand Hotel is a step back in time to the majesty of days gone by. As well as the luxury of the surroundings, the menu is great, the kitchen is full of passionate and talented chefs and there’s a wine list that lives up to the atmosphere of the venue and the deliciousness on your plate. Oh and don't forget to ask about their award winning craft beer list.

Q. I'm a bit of a coffee snob and only want the best stuff. Where can I find the perfect caffeine hit?

When anyone is looking for "a good coffee" in Queenscliff, Belsize & Co is the first one to roll off the lips. Serving artisan coffee and food, this is the top option for a someone who appreciates the perfect crema! There is plenty of space to sit in for breakfast or lunch, but don't be afraid to run in for a take away to enjoy on your walk around town.

Q. Cocktails, cocktails, please where can I find cocktails?

Salt Lounge Bar is the sort of place you can sneak away and feel like you are living the life of Gatsby. This eclectic, retro lounge makes you feel sexy and luxurious whilst enjoying a cocktail and a tasty snack. When we say snack think oysters or lobster rolls. If you are so inclined ask David to show you his cigar collection.

 Q. I want to smell the ocean while I eat my hot roast beef roll. Yep, this is the place for general yuminess.

Harry's Kiosk has come back to life over the last couple of years. Set in an iconic spot near the beach and in the park, it's the perfect place for a good family feed. There is indoor or outdoor seating and often surrounded by groups of "mamils" taking a break from their bike ride around the Bellarine.

So what are you doing this weekend?
