Geelong Gaol Museum
Geelong Gaol Museum will reopen on November 14, 2020.
The Geelong Gaol Museum is housed in the most intact 19th-century prison in Victoria.
It opened in 1853 and closed in 1991 in the same conditions that you see today.
Visitors can experience the brutal conditions prisoners endured over its 138-year history along with displays telling the history of this three-story bluestone behemoth.
Visitors can view the gallows, spend some time in solitary or view some of the items made by the prisoners themselves.
They have a number of special exhibitions including Rogues & Vagabonds of the Geelong Gaol, Colonial Gaols of Victoria and the Hulks.
Coming soon is their newest exhibition, Saga Behind the Armour.
Open weekends, school holidays and public holidays.
