Point of No Return
Essence Productions Company brings history to life in Point of No Return, a harsh but inspiring story of life at the Point Puer boys’ prison near Port Arthur, Tasmania.
It was the Britain’s first attempt at rehabilitating young prisoners. The boys were given opportunities to learn a trade, read and write depending on the skill and attitude of the guards.
The story centres around a group of boys transported from England who work together to survive in the hostile new world and try to find some hope for a future beyond the horrific life of the prison. The prisoners are not the only ones struggling to survive - the Guards are also playing their own brutal game.
A fascinating story based on real locations and events that occurred in the early 1800s.
