Word for Word Non-Fiction Festival
Word for Word National Non-Fiction Festival is Australia’s only national literary event with a dedicated focus on non-fiction writing and ideas.
This year Word for Word challenges its audience to open their eyes and join the forum of experts gathered in the heart of Geelong’s cultural precinct as they explore the most urgent social challenges facing Australia and the world.
The 2019 Theme: Nyaal (Open Your Eyes)
The Event acknowledges Wadawurrung Traditional Owners of the land on which the Word for Word Festival takes place; their Elders past, present and emerging; and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
They give their heartfelt thanks to Wadawurrung Traditional Owners for allowing the event to incorporate the Wadawurrung word Nyaal into the festival theme for 2019 – the International Year of Indigenous Languages.
In particular, The Word for Word Festival wishes to acknowledge and thank Wadawurrung woman Corrina Eccles, for her invaluable assistance and guidance for this year’s festival.
The Word for Word National Non-Fiction Festival is committed to bringing issues and topics related to the challenges facing First Australians to the fore through the presentation of non-fiction writing and ideas as part of the 2019 festival program and into the future.
