Insiders Guide: Pako Precinct

There are some tasty reasons to shop in Pako. Some of Geelong’s favourite butchers, provedores and specialty produce shops, many of them stocking locally grown and produced vegetables, fruit, olive oil, cheese and preserves.

Fashion, kidswear and homeware boutiques are dotted throughout the strip. It’s a great place to go if you need a new outfit for a special event, or you’re looking for a unique gift.

Aside from the shopping, there are some cool activities in the area too.  The Rutland Street creative precinct at the River End of Pako is home to all manner of creative industries, including the very cool Boom Gallery.  With a great calendar of exhibitions, an awesome gift shop and the Boom Workroom offering crafty classes and workshops, it’s a gorgeous place to visit.

For those who prefer their adventures to be less retail, The Rock Adventure Centre is an indoor rock climbing facility with 1000m2 of climbing surface up to 12 metres high!

Shopping, browsing or climbing is hungry and thirsty work. Luckily there are a heap of cafes and places to eat along the way. Box Office is a favourite with locals with lots of local, healthy, vego and gluten free options.
