Grace - Red Stitch Actors' Theatre - Geelong Arts Centre: Our Season 2022
Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre presents Grace, Katy Warner’s sharp new investigation of motherhood, fairy tales, and the notion of 'selfish women'.
Directed by Sarah Goodes, the critically acclaimed former Resident Director at STC, and Associate Artistic Director of MTC, praise is already swirling for this latest collaboration.
Interrogating the complex relationship between mothers and daughters, inter-generational antipathy, and female identity inside and outside of motherhood, Grace features a stellar cast including Green Room Award-winning actor Jillian Murray (The Year of Magical Thinking) and Kate Cole (Grounded).
Grace explores memory and remembrance, and the fairy tales we tell ourselves and each other. The production is supported by exquisite composition from sound designer Grace Ferguson, and set and costume by Sophie Woodward and Jacob Battista.
Grace was developed through the Red Stitch Actors' Theatre INK program. INK is designed to offer resources, structure and support to Australian playwrights through the expertise of the Red Stitch ensemble and associates.
Red Stitch Actors' Theatre is an actor-led company that was founded in 2001. This multi-award winning ensemble is renowned for its commitment to creating bold, visceral and ambitious theatre that champions the work and writing of Australian artists.
