Word for Word National Non-Fiction Festival
Word for Word Non-fiction Festival is Australia’s only national literary event with a dedicated focus on non-fiction writing and ideas.
Passionate presenters create a platform for discussion, dialogue and debate on a variety of subjects including the #metoo and #timesup movements, history, racism, Indigenous issues, asylum seekers, social research, true crime, artificial intelligence, memoir and much more.
Day one of the Festival presents a series of writing masterclasses and takes the program across the region from the Golden Plains to the Bellarine, the suburbs of Geelong to the Surf Coast.
Opening Night will feature critically acclaimed author Helen Garner in conversation and in partnership with Express Media, the winner of the 2018 Scribe Nonfiction Prize for Young Writers will be announced.
The Festival weekend is two days packed with fascinating discussions through a series of in-conversations, panels, keynote addresses and the comic brilliance of the Great Debate, all held at the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre.
Whether you come for a session or stay for the weekend to experience all that Geelong and the region have to offer, you will leave enriched for the undertaking.
