Thrills on two wheels
Bike riders are spoilt for choice with several great rides across Geelong and The Bellarine.
Whether it’s a leisurely pedal along the coast or a faster pace downhill jumping from boulder to boulder, there’s a track for all types of riders.
There's plenty of thrills to experience on two wheels.
Hit the Bellarine Rail Trail which stretches 35km from South Geelong to Queenscliff with coastal and countryside scenery. The trail is mostly flat asphalt but from Drysdale to Queenscliff you’ll ride on a gravel trail with some gradual climbs.
Be sure to take in the surrounds as you cruise this trail, which passes farmland, animals, coastline, protected wetlands and suburbia. Parts of the trail run parallel to the historic Bellarine Railway, and if you’re lucky, you may find yourself racing one of the few heritage trains that still use this track.
Toilets and shelter can be found at Drysdale Railway Station, Suma Park and Queenscliff township along the way.

The Barwon River Trail is a calm place to meander - much loved by locals on foot and on bike. Ride the 20km of paths shadowing Geelong’s picturesque Barwon River (the cascading Buckley Falls are a highlight) and make a pitstop at one of the many parklands, playgrounds, picnic areas and nature reserves along the way.
The sealed and relatively flat path is suitable for riders of most levels and little kids. There are smaller loops if the full 20km is a bit more than what you’re after.

The You Yangs has two designated mountain biking areas that contain more than 50 kilometres of track to cater for riders of all ages and abilities. Kurrajong Plantation is the easier and flatter of the tracks, the 20 kilometres consists of three loop tracks through established Eucalypt plantations.
The more challenging Stockyards area in the north of the park has a range of flowing single trails and steep technical sections through rocky landscapes. This area contains three downhill tracks and a range of cross-country tracks that will test all riders.
The Hill Mountain Bike Park in Newtown is a public track suitable for riders of any age. It’s a great spot for beginner to intermediate riders and features three cross country trails, a skills track and a pump track.
