The Festival of Sails returns to Geelong this January 2027, bringing world-class yacht racing to Corio Bay alongside a vibrant two-day public waterfront festival celebrating sailing, entertainment and community.
Hosted by the Royal Geelong Yacht Club, the Festival of Sails is one of Australia's most iconic sailing events, welcoming hundreds of yachts and thousands of sailors to Geelong's spectacular waterfront. The 2027 regatta proudly hosts three major championships: the Australian Yachting Championship (IRC), Australian Sports Boat Association National Championship and S80 Victorian Championship. The iconic 184th Melbourne to Geelong Passage Race on Saturday 23 January marks the beginning of the Geelong celebrations, followed by an exciting program of keelboat, multihull and one-design racing across the long weekend.
On Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 January, the free public waterfront festival transforms Geelong's waterfront into a lively celebration featuring live music, delicious food and drink, artisan markets, marine exhibitions, family-friendly activities and entertainment for all ages. While competitive sailing continues through to Tuesday 26 January, the main public festival takes place over the Saturday and Sunday.
Whether you're cheering on the yachts, enjoying the waterfront festivities or soaking up the summer atmosphere with family and friends, the Festival of Sails offers an unforgettable celebration of sailing, summer and the Geelong community.
