The National Crime & Justice Museum at the Geelong Gaol (also known as the Geelong Gaol Museum) is housed in the most intact 19th-century colonial prison in Victoria.
It opened in 1853 and closed in 1991 in the same conditions that you see today.
Visitors can experience the brutal conditions prisoners endured over its 138-year history along with displays telling the history of this three-story bluestone behemoth. Visitors can also see artefacts from all over Australia that illustrate its criminal history.
Step back in history and view the exhibitions of Colonial Prisons, the Hulks, Stitched Up and Saga Behind the Armour, Eureka Stockade to name a few.

Join the paranormal investigators from Twisted History as you are taken to the hot spots of the Geelong Gaol in a search for evidence that the paranormal truly does exist.Using a range of equipment and methods, you will investigate a number of locations on this two hour tour including the surgery, morgue, kitchen among others. Customers are welcome to bring their own equipment if desired.For those wanting more time to investigate, you can join Twisted History on a four hour Extended Paranormal Investigations. Hear spine tingling stories of life locked behind the walls of one of the most infamous and oldest gaols in Victoria, as you explore inside the building. It has been home to convicts, prisoners, men, women and children for 142 years. It has housed murders, rapists, thieves, lunatics, vagrants and has been the site of many of their deaths.
