An evening of song, wit and live music with a full orchestra, and chorus awaits.
In its second production of 2026, Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria presents Patience, featuring Sullivan's most beautiful music and Gilbert's brilliant satire ridiculing the Victorians for their ability to hold straight-laced ideals while obsessing over the passions and indulgences of Oscar Wilde's world of poets and painters.
The rapturous maidens of the village seek beauty and perfect artistic expression and spurn their confused, and decidedly non-poetic, military suitors for Reginald Bunthorne, a moody and handsome poet. However, Bunthorne only has eyes for the simple milkmaid, Patience. The problem? Bunthorne's artistic ways are all just an act to attract women to him - he doesn't even really like poetry. Besides, Patience is in love with her childhood sweetheart, Archibald Grosvenor, who really is a poet, but she feels she cannot marry him because he is just too perfect. How will this romantic love triangle unravel?
Join Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria for a rare opportunity to see this gem authentically staged with glorious costume and dances, and the thrill of a full chorus, live orchestra and the skill of Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria's best principals and new talent.
