Story Bridge is an exhibition of new works by Anindita Banerjee in Gallery One at Platform Arts.
This work is a nostalgic response to the duplicate architectural plans of the Story Bridge in Brisbane and the Howrah Bridge in Kolkata, through the lens of a migrant on unceded lands.
Anindita Banerjee is a multidisciplinary artist, curator and arts leader whose work empowers multicultural communities through inclusive storytelling, public art and participatory exhibitions. By centering diverse voices and fostering collaboration, Dr Banerjee creates lasting impact across Victoria's civic, cultural and community landscapes.
Banerjee's exhibition combines with a second exhibition by artist Shivanjani Lal in Gallery Two. Banerjee and Lal explore connections between various homelands and Kolkata, India, looking to post-industrial port cities with shared histories of migration, trade and colonisation. Using these parallels, they investigate personal and collective histories of movement and displacement.
Platform Arts is supported by the City of Greater Geelong, Creative Victoria, Creative Australia, and the Anthony Costa Foundation.
