Winter Shiraz Festival turns 10

Raise a glass – Winter Shiraz is celebrating a decade of good times, great drops and cosy vibes.

Returning for its 10th year, this much-loved event brings together eight of our favourite local wineries for one big weekend. Over three days, they’ll host a range of events that put the spotlight on Geelong’s cool-climate Shiraz, paired perfectly with warming winter eats, live music and all-round good company.

There’s something for everyone across the program – from intimate fireside tastings to multi-course dinners, chocolate pairings and guided masterclasses. You’ll also find food trucks, paella, and paddock-to-plate feasts dished up with a generous side of local talent.

Degustation Dinner | Shiraz Masterclass | Fireside Sessions (18+)

One of Geelong’s most awarded wineries is putting on a trio of top-tier experiences. Start with an indulgent degustation dinner set inside their beautiful barrel hall on August 1. The next day, dive into a guided Shiraz Masterclass hosted by the winemakers themselves. Or, settle in by the fire at their 18+ evening session with music, hearty fare and seriously good vino.

Shiraz in Season – The Many Faces of a Versatile Grape

Oakdene is hosting three days of tastings, each one exploring the versatility of Shiraz through a selection of current and vintage releases. Sip your way through their award-winning wines while wandering the art-filled grounds, or book in for a relaxed cellar door tasting with matched bites and plenty of flavour.

Shiraz Through the Years – Museum Tasting Experience

Wine lovers, this one’s for you. Scotchmans Hill is opening up its cellar for a museum-style tasting across three days. You’ll journey through their back vintages of Shiraz, guided by knowledgeable staff who’ll share stories behind each drop. It’s a rare chance to taste how the region’s Shiraz evolves with time.

Burning of the Canes

This fiery tradition is always a crowd favourite. Austin’s Wines invites you to gather under the stars for the Burning of the Canes, a night filled with live music, roaring bonfires, food trucks, marshmallow toasting and of course, plenty of Shiraz. It’s the perfect way to warm up this winter.

Shiraz Tasting | An Afternoon of Cam Henderson, Shiraz and Paella

Start with a cosy tasting on August 2 at Barwon Ridge’s family-run vineyard, tucked in the Barrabool Hills. On Sunday, head back for a relaxed afternoon of paella and Shiraz, soundtracked by local musician Cam Henderson. This one’s ideal for those who like their wine experiences with a good dose of live music and good food.

Shiraz and Chocolate Masterclass | Tasting Paddles

Lethbridge Wines is dialling up the decadence. On Friday, join their Shiraz and Chocolate Masterclass for a guided pairing that brings out the best in both. Over the weekend, you can also drop in for a self-guided flight of Shiraz and artisan chocolate. It’s all about savouring the richness of winter with every sip.

Shiraz Dinner

Dinner at Terindah is always a treat, but this Winter Shiraz dinner is something extra special. Set inside the glass-fronted dining space, you’ll enjoy a seasonal menu paired with estate-grown Shiraz and sweeping views of the bay. The vibe is warm, refined and unmissably local.

Fireside Shiraz and Paella

End the weekend on a high at Oneday Estate, where the fire will be roaring and the paella will be hot. This rustic Sunday session combines hearty eats with a glass of Shiraz in hand, live music in the background, and that unmistakable Oneday charm. Perfect for a chilled afternoon with friends.
