Tastes of Greater Geelong returns from 19 June to 19 July with more than 70 food, wine and hospitality events across Geelong and The Bellarine. Long lunches, late night feasts, wine tastings, winter markets, hands-on workshops and waterfront dinners are all on the menu this year.
Now celebrating 15 years, the festival has become one of the biggest winter food events in Victoria, bringing together local chefs, winemakers, brewers, growers and hospitality venues for a month of seriously good eating and drinking.
This year’s program stretches from Geelong’s waterfront and Little Malop Street to wineries across The Bellarine, cosy dining rooms in Ocean Grove and long-table experiences overlooking the vines in Wallington and Drysdale.
Tastes of Greater Geelong officially launches with the first Geelong City Night Market (19 June), transforming Little Malop Street into a winter hawker-style market filled with local food stalls, warming drinks, live music and fire pits.
Little Malop Street will fill with local food stalls, warming drinks, live music and fire pits for the opening weekend.
It’s free to attend and a pretty good place to start if you’re looking for things to do in Geelong this winter.
The festival program includes everything from intimate winemaker dinners and degustation menus to large-scale dining experiences that bring together local chefs, producers and winemakers.
The Heritage Table at 1915 (26 June) brings together seasonal produce, local wines and storytelling inside one of Geelong’s historic spaces, hosted by Simon Toohey.
At Geelong Gaol, (18 July) Velvet & Vice turns the old bluestone prison into a speakeasy-inspired food and wine experience with roaming canapés, cocktails and live entertainment.
Epic Harvest Feast (17 July) is a one-night-only Indigenous dining experience combining native ingredients, storytelling, fermentation and local producers.
Across the month, wineries and restaurants around the region are also hosting long lunches, degustation dinners and curated wine experiences including:
